A couple of weeks ago I came across the Tots to Travel website. Tots to Travel are family travel specialists, with accommodation in locations including Portugal, Spain, Greece, Italy, the Canary Islands and Cyprus. At Tots to Travel, every single villa, gîte or resort, is kitted out with all of the baby equipment, and safety features you will need. From high chairs, cots and baby gates, to covered electronics and gated swimming pools – creating stress relief, less baggage and creating total peace of mind.
I always have a little (ever-growing) list in the back on my mind of places I want to go – at the moment Cuba, Iceland, Greece and Sicily are right up there. There are no strict timescales, just loose, hopeful ones. Holidays have changed significantly since having children – not for better or worse, just different. Actually, definitely better, but priorities change, and with that comes a change of expectations.
The huge positive for me about taking children on holiday is the things they notice – they notice such subtle differences, have so many questions and bring so much more enjoyment. On the flip side; holidays with children are less relaxing, can be intense at times and require more organisation and thought.
Since having children (although, happy to be proven wrong), I much prefer self catering holidays for so many reasons – no staff (I turn totally anti-social on holiday), no cleaners (something I have a weird thing about), no other guests in close proximity (I like to feel like it’s just us), privacy (so important), a place to prepare food (handy for babies especially) and somewhere to relax to night once the kids are asleep (bliss).
To me, a holiday isn’t very relaxing if loved ones are uncomfortable at night, I’m not sleeping next to Jared, or if sleep is very disturbed. Returning from a holiday more tired than when you left is no fun at all (it’s happened people)! It’s also no fun if you feel like your children aren’t safe, or if you feel like your children are disturbing other people – especially if you have an unsettled baby during your time away.
Tots to Travel love babies and rambunctious toddlers – they are not only welcomed, they are celebrated, and isn’t that just brilliant?
Where are you planning to with your family this year? I would absolutely love to know.
Oh I just can’t wait to do more travelling with my two. We haven’t been able to do it up until this year because of my husband’s injury but we’re really hoping that this will be the year we get away. I’ve heard of Tots to Travel a couple of times now, they sound perfect.
Nat.x
I really hope you can manage to get away somewhere. I can’t wait to do some more with mine either. It all comes down to time and money doesn’t it? Can’t wait to see where you get to x
Oooo this does sound great. I always worry about whether the place remembered we have kids etc ahha … I’m working on a travel wish list post at the moment, but this year I am hoping for Denmark and Nath teneriefe. Poland is still up there,as is Croatia and Malta x
I would love to go to Tenerife too…ever since I heard about that amazing water park. I flipping love water parks!!! I hope you make it x
Lone traveller here, Esther. Greece gets my vote every time and their love of family of all ages is very noticeable.
I’ve never been to Greece, but would absolutely love to go! I think being a lone traveller must be thrilling. Just going out there, and doing whatever you fancy! Greece is certainly on my list! x
