Favourite Books – November

Anyone else not liking how fast November has started and finished? It’s unnerving! Our baby boy is going to be here before we know it. Whenever I ask Win to get his favourite books out he lays them out on the floor in rows of three – a lot like below:

Favourite books - November

The Happy Lion – The happy lion at the French zoo is the favourite of all the townspeople. One day he finds the door to his enclosue open and decides to visit all of his friends. He doesn’t understand why those that he calls friends are now fleeing in terror? The illustration is dreamy, and you will love ‘The Happy Lion’.

Some Dogs Do – Did you know dogs do fly? Well some dogs don’t and some dogs do! None of Sid’s friends believe that he can fly, but his parents soon show him that some dogs do.

MOG the Forgetful Cat – This book featured last month and I must admit that Mog is very loveable…despite his ‘oh bother’ ways.

The Odd Egg – All the birds have laid an egg…all except for Duck. Luckily he manages to find one, and he thinks it is the most beautiful egg in the world. When the egg finally hatches something unexpected happens.

Stories Jesus Told – There are a few books in this series and my parents bought them for Win last Christmas. It is Bible stories told from the perspective of animals. A mouse watches as the shepherd looks for his missing sheep, a cat watches a woman trying to find her missing coin and a squirrel watches one son work and one son being lazy – plus many more. The stories are so sweet, and humorous in places.

Alfie Gives A Hand – Alfie has featured again! Alfie is attending a birthday party at his best friends house. He takes his comfort blanket with him and only puts it down when he decides to help a friend.

See Inside Castles – I love the whole ‘See Inside’ series by Usborne and Win loves this one as well as ‘See Inside Your Body’. They give so much to talk about with overwhelming little ones.

Bumpus Jumpus Dinosaurumpus – There is something happening in the jungle. The dinosaurs are having a dinosaurumpus! It makes you want to quake, quiver and stomp around. This book has a great rhythm to it and I know that’s one reason why Win loves it. Th pictures are really bright and colourful.

HUG – Monkey is sad because he can’t find his Mummy – all he wants is a hug. There are only three different words in this book and Win loves reading them loudly or softly, depending on how big the text is.

Ru’s favourite book is definitely Mr Magnolia. He calls it ‘boot’ and loves shouting out the end word of each page.

Lovely choices! We love all the Mog and Alfie books – they bring back memories of my own childhood and are so timeless. We’re also big fans of the Usborne look inside books – the possibilities are endless! 🙂

So nice to hear! I didn’t think Alfie would become a favourite but he loves them. Usborne always seem to get it right! xx
