As a parent do you ever say something and then cringe, because you sound exactly like one of your own parents? I know I do – particularly my Mum. Not only am I starting to sound like her, she is also the first person I turn to when I need some parenting advice. Being a mother of so many, she’s had plenty of practice!
It turns out that I’m not alone. According to a recent survey conducted by Nelsons Teetha®Teething Granules it really is mum who knows best.
When women go on to have their own families it has been found that:
– 63% of new mums trust their own mother’s advice over any other family member, with their partner coming second at 16%.
– 25% of new mums would go with their partner’s advice, however a whopping 55% of new mums trust their own mother’s advice, over their partners.
– 9% of new mums ignore their partner’s advice very often and 63% occasionally ignore them.
– However, 30% of new mums won’t disagree with their partner’s advice if it has come from someone else first!
The results of this survey really made me laugh. Although I am a stay at home mum and spend more time with our two children, Jared and I play a very equal role in parenting and our children generally don’t prefer one of us over the other. We make our decisions on parenting together but we are definitely more likely to take each other’s advice if it is backed up by somebody else’s. I also can’t help but wonder how Will and Kate are doing with new princess Charlotte – I wonder who they go to advice? Does the Queen ever get asked for her thoughts?
Teething is a particularly tricky and distressing time for all parents. It is definitely a time I have asked lots of different people for advice as the symptoms are so varied. The UK’s number one (and my favourite) teething brand is Nelsons Teetha® Teething Granules – a homeopathic remedy specially formulated for the soothing and calming relief of the symptoms of teething. It is ready-dosed in a convenient in a granule format that simply dissolves in a baby’s mouth to help provide teething pain relief. It contains a 6c homeopathic potency of natural Chamomilla.
If your little one is over three months, there is also a gel format available: Nelsons Teetha®Teething Gel is sugar free and contains a unique formulation of natural homeopathic active ingredients:
Chamomilla 12c (to relieve pain), Belladonna 12c (to reduce red cheeks and stop dribbling) and Aconite 12c (to soothe sore and tender gums).
My Mum recently sent my siblings and I this picture of herself, joking that she is turning into Mrs. Armitage. After carrying eleven children and 57 years – I think she looks fabulous! and I can honestly say that there is no one else in the world I would rather be like than her.
Nelsons Teetha Teething Granules costs £5.10 and Nelsons Teetha Teething Gel costs £4.95. Both are available from Boots, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose, Morrison’s and all good pharmacies. Always read the label.
