Details in our bathroom

Our bathroom isn’t the most charming of rooms, but there are lots of details that I love about it. It’s small, not minute and has a modern feel to it. We weren’t planning on renovating our bathroom so soon after moving in, but after a huge leak it made sense to do it all at once – it has changed a lot. When we moved in it had a bath, toilet and a sink, but when we renovated it we managed to squeeze in a cubicle shower too. There is nothing like having a hot shower, minus a cold back and arms – both Jared and I felt quite strongly about it. I’d pick a shower over a bath any day.bathroom renovation

Up until recently our bathroom was a light grey colour, but due to mould problems we ended up repainting it white, as we couldn’t find a mould paint in a colour we liked. We’re not used to it yet and it does feel quite bright. No matter how tidy you try to make a bathroom, it always seems to look a little cluttered.

We have large black tiles on the floor which I love the look of, but actually make it quite cold. It didn’t make sense to get under floor heating for such a small area.

These towels are from Homesense and were about £7.99 each. I love choosing which one to use.

These bird tiles are from Not on the High Street.

I love Liz Cook charts and this essential oils one means I’m always learning something. I think I have way too much contact lens solution.

postcards from paris

Jared and I always pick up something for the home when we’re on holiday. These are postcards from Paris.

I have been looking at lots of interiors recently, mainly because of a project I’m working on, but if you are in need of bathroom inspiration it is well worth having a look at the vinyl that Carpetright has to offer. Vinyl was very popular in the 80’s and 90’s, but it doesn’t need to look outdated or uninspiring. The looks you can achieve with vinyl may take you by surprise, and it’s practical too – you decide:

This bathroom is very ‘me’. The baskets, the stool, the roll top bath, the wood panelling, the hooks – down to the lamp, the radiator and the wooden brushes. It is all calling my name. Add a couple of plants and I would be ready to move in.

Spotting a theme here? Deep roll top baths are just heavenly, and I am very much in love with the radiator too.

A very chic mix of vintage and modern. Those windows are glorious!

Aside from how much I love the rope soap, the cushion and the bowl – how vibrant is this floor?

Normally I would really dislike everything about this look, but there is something very modern, eclectic and industrial that I like. It’s certainly different.

Surprised? I was! My favourites are without a doubt slate, marble and mosaic style.

Aah Esther — I love the pic of the dark grey tongue and groove with the roll top. The bath is very similar to the one in my ensuite and I keep meaning to paint the walls grey in there. Love your new loo brush!! 🙂 Thanks so much linking in with us on #HomeEtc — we really do appreciate it 🙂
