Peace, a watch and a bolga basket – #Littleloves

I’ve had a really enjoyable week. Jared had a wonderful time skiing, the boys have been brilliant for me and now it’s very lovely to be back as a four. I made sure Winston and Rufus were super tired every single night, so by 7.15pm I was free to do whatever I fancied downstairs. Wild I know. Without the option of the gym, conversation or massage clients my week has been so peaceful, and I’ve relished it. I feel like the boys are at a very settled stage, Ru is becoming such a character and I enjoyed having them all to myself.

Read

The boys and I have done a lot of reading this week. With Jared being away I have realised that we seem to get caught up in the frenzy of him leaving the house when (most mornings) we really don’t need to. We’ll save that for when school begins. This week I’ve woken up with (at least) Winston in our bed and the three of us have read for an hour before having brekkie – LOVE that word. We’ve moved a lot slower in the mornings and it’s been really lovely. We bought the below six books at a Baby and Tots sale last Saturday and I would be interested to know how many times each one has been read…A LOT! My plan to read my own books whilst Jared was away went to pot, but I’ve done lots of sewing and caught up with lots of Create Paradise bits, which was much needed.

duck in a truckI also bought copy of Red magazine as I knew Courtney from Babyccino blog was being featured. Stalker alert. I’ve been looking for a more grown up magazine (heading towards 30 y’know) and I must say I really enjoyed it. There was a huge feature about what makes a modern family plus articles on cutting out snacking, self mastery and spending time as a family. It had a really down to earth approach which for some reason, I really wasn’t expecting. I’m Red’s newest fan.

Watched

I am such a bore TV wise. Still loving Call The Midwife. Jared and I always watch Revenge together but I couldn’t wait, so I watched it without him. We have such different taste and it’s the one thing we both enjoy. We started watching it the week Ru was born, then had to wait a year for the next series. I always ask a million annoying questions afterwards. Thankfully Jared got to miss out on that this week.

Heard

To go along with my peaceful week I haven’t listened to a thing, other than in the car.

I have heard Winston say: “I want Daddy not you”, “I like Daddy, not you”, “I miss Daddy” and after I tell him not to do something: “Mummy, I am going to speak fire!”, followed by a punch in the air. Really not sure where he got that one from. I’ve had to snigger a lot behind my back because I find it all very amusing…but obviously I can’t let him know that.

Made

I put together my package for Lucy’s Springtime Surprise Project which I found much trickier than I anticipated. I didn’t have a blog or an Instagram to work from, so my partner will either love it or hate it! I couldn’t quite work out what she was trying to tell me, and quirky can be interpreted in so many different ways. I made some mini bunting and the package contained chocolate, so hopefully my partner will see past the random assortment of objects. I enjoyed putting it together, but I don’t feel totally relaxed about it.

Wore

I’ve started to wear a watch this week because I usually use my phone to check the time. This means I can get distracted by other notifications, when all I really need to know is the time. I’m already feeling the benefit of it. It was £5.99 from Aldi about a year ago and I love it. I really don’t suit fancy things.

And lastly…

On Wednesday my Mum, the boys and I went to Doncaster market. On a Wednesday all the stalls are second hand and I’ve wanted to go for a while. I decided to invite my Mum along. It’s not huge, but I prefer not to be overwhelmed, so it was perfect. I managed to find a bolga basket for £5 which I was thrilled about. I also bought a Peter Rabbit two handled mug that I loved and a little box exactly the same as one my Mum used to have. Can’t beat that.

Lovely post Esther. So pleased your week with the boys solo parenting it went well. I miss my hubby when he’s away but I find I get loads done in the evening when it’s just me! Love your white watch, I really need to get a new one so I’m not constantly holding my phone. Have a fab weekend lady xxx

Seriously…I got loads more done and I powered through it all. I do talk a lot, so I probably saved hours not chewing his ear off. Definitely guilty of phone holding, trying to stop treating it like a pet xx

I love your watch. I have a nice one but never wear it. I hadn’t considered the thing about wasting time on my phone when I check the time on it. Great point, definitely time to dust my watch off! Your springtime project looks fab, I’m sure whoever receives it will be thrilled x

What a great idea with the watch! I haven’t worn one for years and get distracted by other things on my phone all the time so may need to dig out an old watch or treat myself to a new one! I love that springtime surprise thing, will have to check it out as I hadn’t heard of it before. Have a great weekend! #littleloves

It can be so distracting…ooo look at that, I’ll just check that. When really I’d be fine without. It’s really made a difference. Springtime Surprise Project is such a sweet idea. I love snail mail. Thank you, you too xx

I’ve never read Red, although you may have persuaded me to buy a copy. Now that I have hit my mid-30’s (sob) I don’t really care for reading Now anymore.
I love Revenge, I missed last Monday’s episode so need to catch it up on 4OD, I find myself constantly rewinding it to make sense of what has just happened! xx

    • 7th March 2015 / 7:00 pm

It’s only £2 this month too so there’s never been a better time 😉 Feel like it’s saying goodbye to my youth rejecting LOOK from now on. Oh I love Revenge. I get so confused too! So much has happened! xx

Call The Midwife is just so brilliant. Life has changed so much since then. SO glad to hear you have the same watch! I copied from my Mum, she bought it first xx
