This week I’ve felt so full inside because it’s Winston’s birthday today! He turns 3. I’ve tried all week to hide my excitement so he wouldn’t keep asking me about it, but it was mighty hard. Everybody seems to say that years fly by but I don’t feel that way. I feel like time has been kind to us and allowed steadiness. Pathetically I’ve cried a few times – in recognition that there is no going back. He is a proper little boy – one with a voice, opinions, wants, actions and demands. It’s completely amazing, but he’s growing up and I’m not quite ready to move on. I love this picture of him when he was a couple of days old. It was taken when I was still in complete naivety to the ups and downs of parenthood. When I think of those whirlwind first few weeks it makes me chuckle.

My half marathon training schedule, which I should be feeling excited about but can’t get motivated about. I ran a marathon nearly two years ago now and long runs just seem so long ago. I found the marathon awful, but we did find out I was pregnant with Ru the day after so there is a positive! Now I just do the occasional Park Run or treadmill session as I much prefer to do weights and ab work. I will need to dust off my running shoes within the next week or so though. I’m psyching myself up for it.
Watched
This is definitely my worst offering every single week. The only thing I have watched this week is ‘Panorama: What Britain Wants’. It explores whether politics can really offer what the people of Britain want. A big part of it this week explored love and how the breakdown of the family unit and community is creating unhappiness and loneliness. It’s a four part series that I’ll be catching up on when I get the chance.
Heard
Julia Donaldson’s ‘The Troll’ has been in our car this week and it’s sending me just a tad crazy. I haven’t heard much else and Winston encourages forces me to sing along. Other than that I’ve really noticed the birds chattering wildly most evenings. Another reminder that Spring is almost upon us.
Made
My sewing machine has been out every night this week making various birthday related items. At the moment Winston spends hours and hours ‘fixing things’ so we decided to get him a tool set. The apron that came with it was a bit flimsy, so I made him one earlier in this week. W helped choose the fabrics, without knowing what it was for! I can’t wait for him to see it.
Wore
I’ve worn stripes this week along with my usual uniform of black skinnies and ankle boots. It’s been a little warmer so I’ve been able to forgo a coat some days and head out in my crazy tassled coatigan.
This burnt orange midi skirt was £5.99 in the ZARA sale last Saturday and I absolutely love it. I’m a huge fan of the midi and I love it with the stripes.
Jared doesn’t often buy me random presents, but when he does, he gets it right. He returned home from skiing with some perfume – Miss Dior, and I’ve been wearing it lots.
And lastly…
I made some felt party hats for Winston’s birthday and I’ll be putting together a tutorial for this shortly. Sometimes I feel like my blog is so random – seriously!
Have a really lovely weekend!

#LittleLoves is a chance to remember all the things that made up your week. Linking up with Morgana.
Ahhhh…birthdays! We’ve had a birthday this past week too. I like what you put about time… I often feel the old saying is true… “The days are long, but the years are short” I really feel that right now. Love that gorgeous little necklace too!
I can definitely relate to that saying. I had forgotten about that one, so thank you for sharing. I hope you enjoyed a happy birthday together xx
I love Miss Dior, such a gorgeous perfume, one of my favourites! You clever lady, that work belt is amazing! Loving your necklace! Popping over from #littlelove
Have a lovely weekend xx
I was pretty impressed with his choice…I think he chose it because he likes Natalie Portman. Haha. She is gorgeous! Thank you very much and I hope you had a lovely weekend xx
Happy birthday Winston! It is quite bittersweet to watch them grow up isn’t it. I want to slow down time a little. I’m sure he will adore his tool belt, it’s amazing. My sewing machine is in storage and I can’t tell you how much I miss her., I’m itching to make something. Have a lovely birthday celebration xx
Bittersweet is the exact word. He won’t wear the tool belt, which is rather amusing. He says he prefer it laid on the sofa so he can see all the tools. Maybe one day? Kids! I know exactly what you mean about itching to make something…I hope you can crack it out soon! Thank you! x
Happy birthday! They grow so fast don’t they? Gorgoues necklace and I absolutely love the little tool set that is so cute. My kids would love it. Lovely outfits, can’t beat stripes! #littleloves
Thank you and absolutely! Stripes are so easy to wear and so versatile…reminding myself of that recently! x
That tool belt is fantastic! I’m in awe of anyone that can sew and make things. Happy birthday to your little boy xx

I was so chuffed, I now just need to make more time (or find it!) to keep it going before I forget! Hope your boy has a fab birthday, my middle little is going to be three in May! x
That is amazing that you made a cushion. It feels so good to make something and once you have the confidence the possibilities are endless. Thank you and I hope you had a lovely weekend! xx
