Sewing Henny Penny and a nature box

I meant to share these pictures a long time ago, so I apologise. In the end I did manage to get a lot of crafting and sewing done for Christmas. On my side of the family we do ‘Secret Santa’ for the grandchildren, and I was really hoping Winston or Rufus would get one of my nieces so I could make something pretty. In the end we had a niece and a nephew. Hooray!

I decided to make my niece a chicken and five chicks – one chick for each member of their family. I enjoyed choosing the colours for the different members of her family. The chicks velcro on and then hide under the wing. My niece is a little older than Rufus and I thought she would enjoy sitting there pulling the chicks on and off. I was really happy with how it turned out. The pattern is taken from Handmade Beginnings, which I’ve mentioned before and love. I’ve made the zebra coat and baby booties in the past. Now, if only I could get the quilt finished!

And here is my nephew playing with the nature craft box that I put together for him. My sister says that he absolutely loves it, and so do they. I’m so glad I made the effort to put it together! Looks like the walnut boats from Red Ted Art were a hit.
