A weekend with grandparents

Both sets of grandparents live about 50 minutes away from our house, so although they’re not around the corner, they’re certainly not miles away either. We manage to see both sets once, maybe twice a month. Winston cannot get enough of them and has always felt that way. Rufus on the other hand is still not that keen on anyone except Jared and I, but he’s getting there. He doesn’t cry, he just gives them a look as if to say: “I’d prefer not to, but I will if I have to”. They are so different.

Last weekend we saw lots of both sets and it was so nice. Jared was working on Friday, but the three of us went swimming with my parents and family. They stayed in for almost three hours splashing about and going on the slides with their aunts and uncles. After swimming the boys and I hopped on a train to Jared’s parents house to meet Jared and then stay over. We ate dinner together, I went to a friend’s house and Jared put the boys to bed.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESJared was at a meeting all day on Saturday, so we didn’t see him until almost 6pm. Our buggy was in need of some TLC, so I decided to give it an MOT. I thought I would just be pumping up the tyres, but it needed a good hoover, a new pump, a new inner tube, a trip to Halford’s, a wash and some muscular strength. It turned out to be a lot of fun, and Jared’s Dad was so helpful. It’s as good as new (aside from a little mud).

Once we had wheels again, the three of us headed into the village to go to the park, feed the ducks and do some shopping. Rufus slept the whole time and it was one of those days where it was so warm in the sun, but absolutely freezing in the shade. Confusing, but totally gorgeous.

After our trip into the village Winston helped his Grandad wash his car. It started hailing and then snowing right after they’d buffed it though. I’m sure all their effort didn’t go to waste.

On Saturday night we decided to stay over again, and Jared and I went to see ‘The Theory of Everything’ on Saturday night. We both loved it for so many different reasons.

We popped home on Sunday, and then in the afternoon we drove to my parents so that I could see my brother and nephew who were visiting for the weekend. Winston was completely spoilt for people to play with him, and I think it is the most hyper I have ever seen him! He was crazy.

Oh! I wish we lived in a village – one day maybe? Oh Katie! The film is really amazing and so touching. A must see, but you have to be in the right mood…it is a little sad in places xx
