The Ordinary Moments #3 – Waiting for Mummy to get ready…

reading morning boys

I’ve finally admitted to myself that I take a while to get ready in a morning. I like to tell myself I’m a ‘ready in 5 -10 minutes’ sort of girl, but in reality it’s more like 20-25 minutes. This poses a very obvious problem, and some days it is near impossible to achieve a minimum level of grooming that I very rarely (if ever) won’t leave the house without. I’m certainly no stranger to rushing out of the house with a bed head, sans deodorant or un-ironed clothes, but the minimum must be achieved!

I’m also a big believer in a lovely coat and nice shoes to avoid exposing the multitude of sins that lie beneath – be it stained clothes or random clothing combinations!

Until the three of us are fully dressed I close the gate at the top of the stairs to prevent any escapes. I have a few strategies I use to get ready with the least amount of interruptions – they shower, play in their room but most frequently Winston gets an armful of books for the two of them to read on our bed…and surprisingly it works quite well. Winston grabs a few books for him and a few for Ru, and I am left with relative peace for more than a couple of minutes! Bliss.

They are so sweet! My girls used to play with my jewellery and makeup brushes when they were little (Noah was fond of a chunky bangle too! 😉 ) Whatever kept them quiet for 20 minutes! 🙂 Lovely pictures Esther xx

Whatever keeps them quiet is definitely the key – as long as it’s not too dangerous! Winston does love a bit of moisturiser I must say. A good habit for the future I’d say! x

Such gorgeous photos of them together- they really are such cute little people. We have similar tactics to help me get ready in the morning too- including emptying all the books out of their book shelf and also playing with Mummy’s makeup! 😉

Emptying things out sends me a bit nuts as I like things to be tidy…but it’s inevitable and definitely happens here A LOT! I love how children thirst to touch every single thing. It’s incredible.

Children just love to play in Mummy and Daddy’s bed don’t they?! Lovely photos x
