REVIEW: Fruit Frollipops

I know. I know. I have a bee in my bonnet about children eating sugar, particularly babies. I wrote a post entitled: ‘How much sugar does a child need?’ quite a while ago – call me a kill joy, but I still feel exactly the same. It’s a bit of a joke now with the in laws (far less awkward) and I find it amusing when people call me ‘mean’ or ‘tight fisted’.

I’m constantly on the lookout for alternative ‘treats’ and try very hard to buy the best option for them both when my choice is limited.

New Fruit Frollipops are fun shaped fruit lollipops which come in two fabulous flavours – apple snakes and strawberry rockets. They contain no added sugar and with nothing artificial added, they are great healthy option for young children.

I’m always a bit sceptical when I see stars on packaging, so let me explain the ones above:

*Based on one child’s portion of 50g of fresh equivalent fruit
**Contains naturally occurring sugars

Not bad at all, hey?

and here is the list of ingredients:

  • Concentrated Fruit Juice (90%) (Apple, Pear & Strawberry),
  • Gelling Agent (Pectin, Carrageenan, Gellan Gum),
  • Dried Fruit (Pineapple, Banana),
  • Acidity Regulator (Lactic Acid),
  • Natural Strawberry Flavouring,
  • Concentrates (Carrot, Blackcurrant)
  • Glazing agent (coconut oil, carnauba wax)

Not bad either.

Winston really loved them, and I loved them because they are completely mess free which I consider a massive bonus. He loved the shape, the taste and remembers exactly what they are. Always a good sign.

Does he accept them as a bribe? Yes.

Does he remember the packaging? Yes.

Does he demolish it within 30 seconds? Yes.

Are they far better for your child’s teeth than a regular lollipop? Of course.

Do I feel bad about giving them to him? No.

Fruit Frollipops are not something I would give Winston every day, but I will most definitely be buying them in the future!

They do come in handy and Winston really seems to like them. The only place I’ve found them is in Morrisons…although I haven’t really looked elsewhere! x
