Bank Holiday shenanigans

I should have known that a day that started with ice-cream at 7:45am was going to be a good one. Rufus and I got up early to attend the Bank Holiday car boot sale near our home. It begins at 5:30am (complete madness) but we got there (late) just after 6:30am. The weather was beautiful, wellies and the sling were essential (as was the ice-cream for breakfast) and I visited every single stall – SUCH a perfect start to the day.

Car boots are so random that you can’t really have a plan. I spent a total of £16.50 and my ultimate bargain was a mirror for £2 – perfect for our hallway. It’s rather 70’s and reminds me of one my grandparents used to own. I love it! The books were 10p and the Crocs were 30p.

After the car boot sale headed to Barnard Castle, County Durham for the Bank Holiday parade (an annual tradition for Jared’s extended family), picnicking, paddling in the river, football and a visit to the fair. We usually have a lovely time but today was especially wonderful – everybody seemed happy to loiter longer than usual and to just enjoy being together.
