The past few weeks have been pretty crazy. My friend and I have embarked on a new venture together which we are very excited about, however; it has been quite stressful! We are renting the top floor of a cafe (Mum’s fabulous idea) and will run sewing classes and workshops from there. The last few weeks I have spent every single night and nap time (apart from one when I had a huge nap! wahoo!) working on our website (I cannot believe how long it takes to build a website?), cutting out patterns, writing handouts and buying equipment. It’s something we have been thinking about and discussing for such a long time – it has been on and off more times than I care to recall and that’s why I’ve not told many people about it until now! Here is the web address:
I’m going to be the booking, organising, admin and social media half and my lovely friend Victoria will teach all of the workshops (for now). It will be based in Beverley, East Yorkshire (my home town) which I absolutely love everything about! This weekend we have rented a market stall on Beverley market so will be there talking to people, handing out leaflets and generally getting the word out there. I’m not the biggest socialite and am generally quite shy (thankfully my friend is the complete opposite!) so am feeling quite nervous about it. I’m going to have to practice some techniques this week so I can approach people with confidence – the show must go on!
We will be offering classes in:
– Making Children’s Clothing
– Alterations
– Upcycling A Garment
– Sewing Basics
– Pajama Making
– Home Sewing…and lots more.
We also offer parties and in the New Year are hoping to offer sewing machine rental by the hour and fabric sold by the metre.
The Grand Opening is Saturday 23rd November where we will be running a drop in craft day!…with classes starting from Wednesday 27th November. We would love to see you there!!!…wish us luck!

How exciting! This is ace. Good luck ❤️
Ah this looks awesome! If I lived near you I would be doing it all! x
Well done Esther!! Looks fabulous. What a great location – so close to where I used to live. SO many fond memories of Beverley ^_^ Good luck!
Thank you for your kind words! Lots still to sort out (ahhhh) but I’m really excited! xx
I’ve loved looking at the new website, well done to you and Victoria. I would definitely be taking a few classes if we were nearer (i think 3 1/2 hours each way is a little extreme) I’d even bring the boys too. You have however inspired me and I’m on the lookout for my first sewing machine!! Any brands you can recommend as a cheap starter machine?
Louise! Definitely go and buy one. It depends how much you plan on using it and what for. The brand Janome is my favourite. The Janome J3-J18 if you plan on just making really simple things (otherwise you’ll outgrow it) or the Janome 7025 if you can picture yourself branching out into more exciting things! I bet you can get both a tad cheaper on eBay! Let me know how you get on xx
