Family photographs and a bit of sewing

We are having major ‘technological problems’ here at our Yorkshire abode and it can make the simplest task SO frustrating!!!! – such as writing a blog post. I was looking through some of our family photographs the other day and found a few that made me laugh, and also realise how much Winston and I’s relationship has developed. Here are some of them:

Since Winston was born, if he has been particularly ‘demanding’ – to put it nicely – or if I’ve been having a bad day I have dressed him in outfit combinations that would make me laugh when I looked at him and encourage me have more patience. It seems such a silly thing and possibly rather mean but on those days it really helped lift me, plus I will have some great embarrassing pictures of him for when he’s much older. On reflection I also realised I haven’t felt the need to do this for a while which gave me a small sense of satisfaction – either he is less demanding, I’m more patient or we just know each other better. I suspect it is a combination of all three which can’t be a bad thing!

On another note it was my birthday recently and my Mum gave me a wonderful beaded panel. It is beautiful and I can’t wait to make it part of a garment. I’m thinking of making it into a dress!

I have also acquired two books which I’m excited about! The Great British Sewing Bee (a birthday present) and Handmade Beginnings (£3.99 from The Works). They both have some incredibly inspiring projects in. Is it wrong that I am looking forward to autumn so I can justify spending my evenings sewing? My new sewing space should be ready to use in the next few weeks.
