My husband struggles with various intolerances and I try to eat sugar free most days, so I’m always on the lookout for recipes we can consider a ‘treat’ and get just a smidge excited about. I got this lovely recipe from Nutritionist Madeleine Shaw (http://madeleineshaw.com/). I follow her on Facebook as all her recipes are clean and look amazing. It is super quick and has worked every time. It’s easy to remember and they are a tasty alternative to a chocolate bar or biscuit as they have texture.
Raw Cocoa Coconut Balls
100g flaked or ground almonds
100g dessicated coconut
100g pitted dates
2 tablespoons of raw cocoa
4 tablespoons of coconut oil (solid)
1. Whizz everything together in a blender until completely combined (depending what blender you have the dates may need some help).
2. Roll into balls and refrigerate for at least two hours.
3. ENJOY and don’t be tempted to get them out before they’re set.
These are also great for kids (as long as they don’t have a nut allergy of course). My 1 year old loves them and they’re full of healthy fats which are essential for brain development. My Mum puts cherries in hers too, depending on what you fancy!

They sound delicious 🙂 Where do you buy coconut oil from in solid form?
Hey Kathryn,
Coconut oil is nearly always in the solid form so it should be really easy to find! You can get it in Holland & Barrett but it’s pretty pricey so I get it online but any health food shop should have it. It tastes amazing when you use it to cook pancakes!
